Avalon Gupta VerWiebe
Avalon Gupta VerWiebe (she/they) is the Food as Medicine Program Manager for Field & Fork Network. Avalon comes from a community organizing, food justice, and public health background and is a fierce advocate for food sovereignty and equitable food access. She is passionate about community-led and data-driven health interventions; in this role, Avalon will be in charge of piloting Field & Fork Network’s Produce Prescription Program. They are a graduate from the University of Louisville School of Public Health and recieved their Master’s of Science in Food Studies from Syracuse University.
In addition to this work, Avalon loves fermentation and food preservation — especially teaching others about it. You can find her foraging for ingredients, riding her bike around town, gardening, swimming in the summer, skiing in the winter, and trying new restaurants around town.
